Why did we insist on creating our own Closed-Loop Recycling System?
Kerbside/Local council recycling systems simply do not have the facilities or the inclination to recycle brush heads.
In addition, a huge amount of that plastic ends up in our oceans eventually, destroying innocent ocean life. This was not at all acceptable to us. If every company takes small steps like this & with your support as customers, we can make a huge difference to the welfare of our planet and ocean life.
LiveCoco's Recyclable Brush Heads are compatible with:
• Any Oral-B* or Braun* electric toothbrush that is supplied with a circular brush head excluding iO versions
• Any Superdrug/Asda/Aldi/Tesco electric toothbrush that is supplied with a circular brush head
• Not suitable for iO toothbrushes
*Please note-these are Oral-B/Braun compatible brush heads. Oral-B/Braun are third party trademarks with no affiliation to LiveCoco.
The answer is simple... we found out that a huge amount of that plastic that is supposed to be recycled by our local council, simply isn't. It ends up in our oceans eventually, destroying innocent ocean life. This was not at all acceptable to us. If every company takes small steps like this & with your support as customers, we can make a huge difference to the welfare of our planet and ocean life.
Council recycling systems simply cannot recycle any kind of electric toothbrush head.
Why?
(1) it is a very difficult & specific process
(2) a huge amount of toothbrush heads are not made from recyclable materials.

(1) How can LiveCoco brush heads be recyclable when black plastic is not recyclable?!
Unfortunately, the notion that black plastic is not recyclable is myth.
It is probably the easiest colour to recycle in fact, because recycled plastic is usually dyed black, no matter the colour. As our plastic is already black, there will be no need to dye it. The reason people (that included us at one point in time too!) think that black plastic is not recyclable is because our local councils are not able to do it. In reality, a significant amount of the plastic that is sent to them (while being recyclable) ends up in landfill or the oceans! Regrettably, they are very much behind the times, hence, we created our own closed-loop recycling system which is able to recycle all LiveCoco products.
(2) Are you able to recycle brush heads made by other brands?
Sorry, we are not able to do this as we have no idea if they are recyclable or not. We aren't setup for this. It was very difficult and expensive for us to create our bespoke closed-loop recycling system just for LiveCoco products.
(3) How hard are the bristles?
They are what we would call “medium” hardness i.e. suitable for most people’s teeth & gums. They are high quality and very long lasting. Many have reported that they are longer lasting than the original type.
FYI-If you have sensitive teeth & gums, we do also offer a soft bristled version (with white bristles).
